Rewrite the Big Book I wouldn't.

Why rewrite the Big Book? Why try to work the steps differently? Why eat Spam when I can eat salmon? Why be a withered raisin when I can be a grape? Why die trying another way when the way is already made?

The Big Book talks about "no further authentication is necessary" so what more do they need from me? I can walk the cleared trail through the bushes of life as a recovering alcoholic, or I can veer off from the group to make my own path. I can go thru the jungle without my guide risking getting lost or even ending up where I started (walking in a big circle).

I have tried my own path even after having been given clear cut directions. . .only to end up trying to navigate back to the original path. Chile, it was usually them lions n' tigers n' bears (oh my) that scared me back to the path of the group!

Nothing is guaranteed but at least the path was laid before I got here. Now do I want to follow that or chance getting eaten alive? My sponsor often gives me directions and add this disclaimer (and all yall who know her know she will say this) "You can TRY it but I didn't know if this would work but I COULD be wrong." Funny thing. . she ain't wrong 99.9% of the time. . ugh, I can't stand her! So I call out for you guys when I'm lost, you answer, I find you and get back in line to walk thru the jungle of life on the pre-cleared path.
